Rules of batting
The rules of batting of 'Cheeka'
were straightforward, every ball has to be killed, bring it outside the
boundary.
That decade of 80 was primarily a period of Test cricket.
One-day cricket was at the time of establishment itself. Speaking to Team
India, he was like a 'newborn' in ODIs. In this round, a cricketer drew the
attention of people with his smoky batting. One day cricket or Test cricket, K
Srikanth's playing style is always the same. His straightforward rule in
cricket was that if the ball is to kill, then hit him and reach the boundary.
Even though during his batting style, Srikanth, playing his stupid shot several
times (throwing his wicket in the difficult situations of the team) He also
came but he never changed his batting style. He batted in cricket only in his
own style.
Due to his batting, Srikanth was also popular among Indian
cricket lovers. In the fellow players, watching the popular Srikanth batting as
'Cheeka', the crowd of crowds on the TV and the field also grew. Srikanth was
not only a member of the Indian team which became World Cup champion under the
leadership of Kapil Dev in 1983, but for India, he also scored the highest runs
in the final. He scored 38 runs in the final against the West Indies, which was
the highest score from both the teams in the low scoring final. In this
innings, he had hit seven fours and a six in the form of opener, that is, 34
runs out of 38 made him in the form of four fours and sixes. It is also
important to remember that these runs were made against the express fast
bowlers such as Michael Holding, Andy Roberts, Malcolm Marshall and Joel Gurner
as the opener of the Indian team. Team India's 43-run victory in the World
Cup-1983 proved to be a game changer in the country and Shrikant was a key
contributor in this victory.
